Global Crane Services & Global Wind Projects Collaborate for Kone Goliath Crane Installation

We were recently appointed by our valued client, DSV Air & Sea, to provide installation solutions for a bespoke Kone Goliath overhead crane project in Govan, Glasgow. 

For this project, we engaged trusted suppliers for the engineering work scope and the Self-Propelled Modular Transporters. We also collaborated with our sister company, Global Wind Projects, for contract lift planning and labour resources, as it demanded specialised personnel with the capabilities to ensure everything ran smoothly and, of course, safely. 

We were privileged to have our two Liebherr LG 1750 cranes available for the job. Their strength, reliability, and capabilities, even in a reduced capacity configuration, meant that they could be positioned in one location and still have the capacity to undertake the complex lifts required throughout. 

This overhead crane installation was more than just a lifting operation, however. It provided a fantastic opportunity to be part of such an iconic project. These Goliath overhead cranes will be a key element within the new state-of-the-art shipbuilding facility being built by McLaughlin & Harvey, which ensures a bright future for the shipbuilding industry on the banks of the Upper Clyde.
